Sparking Microwaves

We've had a bit of a controversy around here with our microwave. Food began sparking in it last week, and we've been been freaking out that something in our home was tainted or metallic. After having the GE repairmen come check the scary black box and receiving his comforting appraisal of, "I've never seen anything like this before!" we got down to business. Or so we thought. Maren began blasting all kinds of food, and things sparked and then they didn't. We looked high and low for culprits, no one was safe. The water was our most obvious and conspicuous culprit, an old pot was tossed hastily, the knives and my honing of them were quickly accused, the refrigerator leaking "metallic gasses" was a strong theory. Hell, even the damn grocery store was getting the evil eye in our home science project witch hunt. Mind you, all this started with the heating up of Reilly's veggies, so our concern was as high as our desire to resolve this. Turns out we should have just gotten online and done some googling. So $50 bucks lighter for the GE visit, but with armed with newfound knowledge of microwaves, we feel safe that our mv is behaving normally and doing the "grape trick".
